The archives, special collections, libraries, historical and genealogical societies, and museums across our state are devoted to providing the public access to their invaluable collections of Arkansas history.

As one of the oldest existing state agencies, the Arkansas History Commission has a long tradition of gathering, preserving, and sharing its extensive collection of manuscripts, books, newspapers, historical maps, audiovisuals, military records, photographs, church records, cemetery records, county records, and family histories. Today, the Arkansas History Commission maintains the largest and most comprehensive archival collection related to the culture, history and life of Arkansas and its people. Its research room is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm every Monday through Saturday.
