The Arkansas Records Catalog is a state-wide project, but its success relies fully upon its numerous participating repositories. The archives, special collections, libraries, historical and genealogical societies, and museums across our state are devoted to providing the public access to their invaluable collections of Arkansas history.

The Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives(SARA) is a resource center for historical research, dedicated to the purpose of collecting and preserving primary source materials that bring together the unique history, culture, and heritage of Southwest Arkansas. SARA was founded in 1978 as a project of the Hempstead County Historical Society, with assistance from the Arkansas History Commission, Historic Washington State Park, and the Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation. Its mission is to serve the twelve counties in southwest Arkansas formed from the original Hempstead County: Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, Ouachita, Pike, Polk, Sevier, and Union. SARA is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm every Tuesday through Saturday.
